Meeting Review: NWAS Philadelphia

Meeting Date:  May 24-27, 2012

Quality of Meeting:  Overall excellent.  The speakers were very good and the topics were relevant to clinical practice.   Objectives were met for each of the topics presented.  I did not attend the hand’s on ultrasound workshop but was told that it was very good also.  I especially enjoyed the topics presented by Dr. Murphy.  He was well informed and interacted with the audience

Quality of location:  Again, excellent.  The host hotel was nice and located in Central Downtown.  There were many good restaurants close to the hotel.  Philadelphia had many historic sites as well as museums.  I was pleasantly surprised at all the murals covering walls in the downtown area.  It was an easy area to keep active by walking and biking.  I especially enjoyed a bike ride along the trail by the river.

Value for the money:  Excellent.  NWAS puts on a lot of meetings and have developed a quality faculty.  They seek sites that are great getaway locations.  I will attend another NWAS meeting next year.

  1. Went to Philly because I needed points. Didn’t expect to be thrilled. Meeting was great. Philly turned out to be a great educational experience too. It’s a “walkihg’ town, so come with your walking shoes! Has easy access to many historical venues that are a wonderful history review. Also was able to obtain a premium ticket to the new Barnes Art Foundation opening. These tickets were primo to obtain, but it was worth it. Leave your car at home, and be prepared to enjoy everything.

  2. I found this meeting to be excellent. The speakers were dynamic and the topics were interesting and relevent to practice. Philadeplphia was a great place to have a conference. The hotel was located in center city and most attractions were within walking distance.I highly recommend NWAS and the Philadelphia location. I was pleasantly surprised with Philadelphia.

  3. I have attended NWAS meetings for many years, because I have discovered that their speakers are generally very dynamic, on time, with no political agenda. Their locations are usually great get away locations, and their meetings are thoughtfully scheduled with time to enjoy the location. I was pleasantly surprised by the Philadelphia location. It is such a great historical location with ample opportunity for walking to museums, bus tours and of course the icon must see locations. Restaurants are diverse, and it was great just walking around. Check out Alfreth’s Alley.
Regarding NWAS, I pleasantly discovered that I have enough points (their form of a frequent flyer system), to have my tuition covered at a meeting of my choice!
